PEP’s very own Patrick McGee, Manager of Prison Initiatives, received a special award from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice today at their “Volunteer Services Awards” Presentation at the Crowne Plaza – Austin. Pat was named the winner of the Leonard Davis Award for Most Hours Served.
(You can read the official press release from TDCJ here.)
His certificate, signed by Governor Rick Perry, is one of the highest civilian awards provided by the TDCJ. This award is particularly meaningful to Pat, who previously spent over seventeen years of his life as an inmate with TDCJ.
Pat shared the following note with us this morning:
For all of those who have ever been told you can’t do anything, or you’ll never amount to anything, this one’s for you!
For those who have no voice but so many things to say, this one’s for you!
For my teammates who allow me to be me and support me through whatever, this one’s for us!
My name may be called, but it is our spirit which will receive. Love you all!
Please join us in congratulating Pat on this remarkable award, and thanking him for the tremendous impact that he has made on so many lives through his service.
